Shain and I have looked at quite a few lots online in the Punta Gorda area, after looking at available properties and new construction I was leaning toward building new. I asked Shain if he had a builder that he liked and why he liked them. His response was that he liked "Your Home", they built good house they were reasonable. He gave me Stephen Dukes ("Your Home" co-owner) phone number and I called him, talked a little and asked him if he could live by my 4 simple requests. I also looked at their web site and read everything I could and searched the internet to find both good and bad reviews. There was very little available to me other than their website, so I read their web site. I also looked at Rock Hard Homes. I called this contractor also and asked if he would live up to my 4 requests, he claimed he always answered his phone and he was a man of his word. I truly felt pretty good about both of these contractors.

After being inspired to build a new home, I first had to choose a location. I had always liked the Punta Gorda area, I knew that prices were still low compared to the rest of parts of Florida we were interested in.
My first step was log in to Zillow.com and Trulia.com and search the current market for both available lots and current house on the market. I found many interesting homes and lots. I next pulled up google maps in street view to take a virtual tour through the neighborhood. My reasoning for this was all the pictures for homes were staged and your neighbors are not something you notice while looking at the real estate websites.
